Daughters of The King (of Kings)

There is so much that the Bible reveals about who we are in Christ.  That we are complete in Him (Col 2:10), we are free from the law of sin and death (Rom 8:2), that we have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16).

One of which is that we are complete heirs with Christ.  The son of God.  Which makes us the sons and daughters of God.  If only we walk in it.  If only we believe it.

Ladies, how many of you believe that you are the daughters of The King? Do you know your worth? Do you live like you know and understand this? Do you move around this world like you know it?

But you are a chosen race,  a royal priesthood,  a Holy nation,  a people for his own possession,  that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people,  but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy,  but now you have received mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are son’s of God.  For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,  but you have received the Spirit of adoption as son’s,  by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,  and if children,  then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,  provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.(Romans 8:14 – 17)

Man about Bethuel

Hey good people!

Before I get to the point of this post,  allow me to digress a bit.

Happy 2017!!

2016 was amazing.  I’d like to thank all those who have participated in this blog.  May God continue to bless you.

And especially for the photographer extraordinaire – Mr.  Irungu Mwangi. Whose work graces the pages of this blog.  Thank you so much.  Be blessed abundantly.  (See his other work on these platforms – IG  and behance).

It is truly a blessing to see another year.

If you haven’t already,  may you discover what your purpose is and get one step closer to fulfilling it this year.

Speaking of purposeful living,  the following gentlemen is definitely an example of this.  (I know,  I know,  “Incredible segue Sheri.” *pats self on back*  🙂 )

An incredible worship leader,  I have been honoured to watch as he has grown in his craft.  And I know he will continue on this great path.

Thank you Bethu for agreeing to this.  God bless you.

Without further ado.  The post.

Outfits Bethu wears about town, as he goes around working for the Lord, fellowshiping and participating in undignified worship. 🙂

1. Some blue.

2. Some white.

3. Some contrast.

You are blessed. You are loved. You are important.

Partners in Christ II

Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 (NIV)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Relationships are hard enough without thinking you can go it alone. We know we can’t do this without Jesus. And we are ever so grateful to have Him help us love our partners, the way He loves us. Or at least try to. 🙂

Here are two partners in Christ – Noel and Nyasha. Partners who love each other, through, with and in Christ.

Good looking couple 😉 .

Without further ado – here are a few shots of them. Enjoy.

Styling – me.

Gentlemen Of God (G.O.G)

Men who have accepted that they are not perfect, but they wholeheartedly love He who is. They know that where they are weak, He is strong. They know that in order to lead, they must serve first.

These are the men of God. And when they treat the women in their lives as daughters of the Most High, they transcend to “gentlemen of God”.

They are not too proud to pray. And submit fully to the one Who knows all and is all.

This post is dedicated to these gentlemen. Featuring a few of them. Noel, Steve and Justin. Well dressed gentlemen of God.

The photography is the incredible work of the one and only Irungu Mwangi. To see more of his amazing work – check it out here and on Instagram @irungu_m. The shoot director was Bethuel.

A note to note: The gentlemen have their ladies. 🙂

What to wear – She be blazing!!

Get it? If you don’t, let me explain. This post is dedicated to the amazing blazer (coat) style of Njambi (the model).

Something I’ve been learning more and more about styling over the past few months, is that, your work is to help not to change. Only answer questions you’ve been asked.

For the most part, a person has an understanding of what is good for them, their own aesthetic. A stylist’s job is to help them find their way to their style, if they ask.

And here is where I say, I helped out here. :-). She got this!!!

Njambi is amazing. Actually she’s Njambazing, or in this case Njamblazing. IMG_3011

We couldn’t have had this post without the incredible work of the one and only Irungu Mwangi. To see more of his amazing work – check it out here and on Instagram @irungu_m.

Without further ado – here we go.

1. Blazing neutral

A colour can be called a neutral based on how effectively it blends with other colours. In this outfit, 3 “neutrally” coloured clothing items, dark blue, off white and black, were used to create a polished and interesting effect.

2. Blazing green hero

I’ve spoken about the “hero” piece before. When it doubt, pick one item and make it thee point of the outfit. Here we see a military style green blazer elevate the look. Black pants and top, a neutral belt form the base of the outfit.

3. Blazing girly

A neutral base of a white top and light pants topped off with a gorgeous textured pink coat, gives this casual outfit a feminine vibe.

Lovely people!!!

I continue to feel blessed by all that God continues to give me.

You are blessed. You are wanted. You are loved.

What to wear – Men’s street style

Hey everyone!!

Hope you’re doing well. Smile into the sunshine and don’t frown into the cloud. :-).

I have to admit, that everytime I get something new to post. I am just filled with gratitude. I wouldn’t be able to do this without incredible friends and family. They support me however and whenever they can. I’m going to stop this before I become too mushy.

Let me begin by thanking the photographer extraordinaire – Mr. Irungu Mwangi. To see more of his amazing work – check it out here and on Instagram @irungu_m.

I’d also like to thank my bestest friend for always having my back. He was the everything assistant in this shoot. Steve. :-).

And last but not least, to the model. An incredible musician, whose love for God is inspiring, and who is very cool peeps (as evidenced in these photos). Sam. Thank you.

I was pretty excited about this post. (I know I say that all the time, but I always am). 🙂

I want to do more menswear inspired challenges, and hopefully this is the first of many.
Let’s get right to it.

  1. Checked in blue

A casual look.

A checked shirt over a grey t shirt. Blue bottoms with blue canvas shoes. The shirt remains untucked with open as an option. The different shades of blue keep the outfit interesting.

    2.  Grey and blue (relaxed)

A grey shirt with African print detail, blue jeans, black high tops, topped off with a grey, zippered and ribbed cardigan.

Texture and a bit of print add visual interest to this neutral look.

    3. Grey and blue (amped up)

Light blue ripped jeans, white shirt with black buttons, blue canvas shoes and a grey with black &white detailing and print sweater jacket.

This is an uber cool combo. Just shouting style.

4. The pop of (blue) colour

Black jeans, black canvas shoes, a dark grey and black t shirt are topped by a blue blazer.

Interesting how one item can make a difference.

Some stylists call that one piece, the hero piece. Others call it the completer item. Whatever you call it. It rocks!!!

Hope you enjoyed this post and are inspired. 🙂

You are enough. You are loved. You are incredible.

What to wear – Bring your inner style blogger out!!!

Another day, another blog post!!

Hello everyone. Hope you’re enjoying another day of life. I’m feeling quite favoured and blessed.

On to the business of the post 🙂

My style challenge was from the lovely Njoki, soon to be Mrs. (sorry fellas). She asked me to style her like a few of her favorite style bloggers. Thank you Njoki for being such a good sport. So we picked a couple of looks, and off we went…

I have to give it up to the photographer extraordinaire – Irungu. I’m constantly throwing challenges at him, and he handles them like the pro he is. I’m so grateful for him. Find more of his work on IG @irungu_m. You can also find his work here.

Also a special shoutout to my sister, Stephanie, who acted as the shoot assistant. Many thanks.

As is norm on this blog, the challenge was to use Njoki’s current wardrobe pieces to recreate the looks.

Without further ado… Here they are.

1. Seated with grace

This look was inspired by Wendy of Wendyslookbook, based in Los Angeles, California.

To see inspiration post, click here.

Switched out the more difficult to find one piece jumpsuit for separate pieces. Work with what you’ve got.

Dark green heels, black pants, a multicoloured beaded choker, black vest, grey chiffon top,and bright red clutch were used to recreate the look.

2. Rich flowy maxi

Another look inspired by Wendy. Here is the original post.

Went with a similar feel. A rich coloured maxi dress in a flowy material.

The maroon chiffon dress was paired with a black clutch and black heels.

3. Casual with a pop

The look is the final one inspired by Wendy. Here it is.

Switching out the detailed shirt with sheer details for a simple light blue chambray, and the distressed jeans for beautiful skinny jeans, this look came together rather quickly.

Added the magenta heels, white bag and pink lippie and the look was complete.

4. Blazer over dress

ThisisEss is a Lifestyle blog run by Sharon Mundia who is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Find the look used as inspiration here. Paired a black and white stretch print dress, black strappy heels, black clutch and a black blazer tied with a thick brown belt.

Because of the shorter length of the dress, left the sleeves on the coat as is (didn’t fold them) – to continue the play on proportions.

5. Colour me comfortable

This may have been Njoki’s favorite. Another outfit inspired by ThisisEss.

Still tying in the concept of “use what you’ve got”. Paired black leggings, a black vest top, a black bag (with gold details), and a green long cardigan.

Skipped the sunglasses, and in a pair of necklaces, used one as a bracelet.

6. Athleisure

The final look, was inspired by Mireia from Stylelovely. Find the look here.

Switched out the camel colour coat for the off white trench coat. The white sneakers were represented by blue and white print (touch of pink and yellow) sneakers.

All this was paired with black stretch pants, white t shirt, black sling bag and sunglasses.

And there you have it. Interesting looks inspired by some amazing style bloggers.

As I keep moving along on this journey. I am so grateful for all that I’m learning. Being able to show people, new ways to wear their own pieces gives me joy. I hope to continue from strength to strength.

Do you have a favourite style blogger? Have you ever thought of trying to remake one of their looks using what you’ve got?

Lemme know in the comments below.

You are precious. You are extraordinary. You are magnificent.
